London is a city with a huge amount of architectural diversity. Being a old city you can still find traditional buildings intertwined with new ones. This is not always a harmonious relationship, some of the 70's designs in particular give a new meaning to the word ugly! However in places it does work and the they do complement each other to an extent. What I like is this the conflict between these structures says alot about the lifestyles of the population that live and work here.
In the past great deals of money were spent on religious symbols of power. This was at a price that can only be compared to the futuristic sky rise office buildings, springing up like daisies wherever you look. To me that says a lot about the state of mind of the world today...our priority is to invest in physical wealth not spiritual wealth.
